New Civil Servants in Kumi Inducted Through Ministry of Public Service Training
The Ministry of Public Service and the Civil Service College Uganda (CSCU) has concluded the induction training of a fresh batch of civil servants in Kumi district. The five-day training which started on Monday, 2nd to 6th February 2026 aimed at setting up the new entrants for success in delivering effective, ethical, and professional service.Mr Odong James, the Principal Human Resource Officer at the Civil Service College Uganda highlighted that the induction is part of the government's initiative to enhance public service delivery by ensuring that these new officers have a solid grasp of the civil service's structure, values, and expectations. The training attracted participants from various departments within the Kumi District Local Government. Throughout the training, the new civil servants learned about the workings of public service, the roles and responsibilities of public officers, the standing orders of public service, and the frameworks for accountability with a strong focus on professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and adherence to government policies and procedures. Sessions led by facilitators from the Civil Service College Uganda covered essential topics like results-oriented management, records and information management, effective communication in public service, and customer care. The goal was to arm these officers with the practical skills they need for efficient service delivery and positive interactions with the community. Kyomia James, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Kumi, congratulated the trainees on successfully completing the induction training. He appreciated the value of early orientation for newly appointed staff, noting that a thorough induction process, consistency, accountability, and performance across departments are enhanced.He also urged the new staff to be disciplined, patriotic, and committed to national development. “Be patriotic citizens who love the country, work diligently, be more confident, better coordinated, and capable of upholding public service standards right from the start of your careers.” Mr. Kyomia James, DRDC.He also called upon them to upgrade their academic credentials so that they are promoted in the future.Participants found the induction to be both timely and enlightening, as it clarified their roles and set clear expectations for their journey as public servants. The Ministry of Public Service reiterated its dedication to fostering a competent and citizen-focused public service.
