Kumi District has successfully disbursed funds from the Parish Revolving Fund (PRF), commonly known as PDM money.  This achievement comes after an initial slow start, which was attributed to the transition from bank account payments to the Wendi wallet system with Post Bank.  The District Commercial Officer, Olupot Thomas More, reported that a total of 8,593,000,000 shillings has been disbursed to 8,593 beneficiary households across the district, accounting for 61% of the total 14 billion shillings received by the 140 PDM SACCOS.  The funds are intended to support various enterprises, including sheep rearing. Olupot emphasized that the beneficiaries who received the money should invest it according to the approved PDM projects, which include sheep rearing, cattle farming, piggery, and cassava cultivation.  He urged the recipients to use the funds for their intended purposes, reminding them that the money is a loan, and any diversion could lead to difficulties in repayment. Regarding the initial delays, Olupot explained that it was necessary to validate the beneficiaries due to community complaints and to resolve system-related issues requiring edits to beneficiary details.  He assured that the remaining funds would be disbursed by the end of November.  Ahamada Washaki, the Resident District Commissioner, commended the efforts of the technical team in supporting the PDM SACCOs during the disbursement process. He urged them to uphold high standards with zero tolerance for corruption.  Additionally, he warned Wendi agents against charging beneficiaries illegal fees to withdraw their funds and pledged to take action against any extortion cases, encouraging beneficiaries to report such incidents. Since the establishment of the Parish Revolving Fund under the Parish Development Model,  Kumi District has received a total of 28.9 billion shillings, which has been allocated to beneficiaries.
