Kumi Launches the Construction of Several Education Infrastructure Projects Worth 970 Million
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kumi, Mr. Hudu Hussein, officially inaugurated the construction of multiple projects within the education sector, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and fostering a conducive learning environment. The launch event, which took place from Tuesday, February 18, 2025, to Friday, February 21, 2025, encompassed a range of initiatives valued at UGX 978, 878, 016. The projects include the construction of two classroom blocks at Onyakello, Aakum, and Kapasak primary schools. Maintenance projects are also part of the initiative and consist of maintaining four classroom blocks at Omerein, two classroom blocks at Ogosoi, four classroom blocks at Agule, two classroom blocks at Totolim, four classroom blocks at Kanyum, two classroom blocks at Aukot, two classroom blocks at Ojie, and three classroom blocks with office space at Aakide. Additionally, the construction of five-stall VIP pit latrines is planned for Kituba, Aukot, Agule, Kamenya, Aruku Ominai, Katilekori, Onyakelo, and Kalungar primary schools. During his remarks at the launch, Mr. Hudu Hussein congratulated the selected schools for their inclusion in the respective projects. He underscored the importance of community ownership of these projects and encouraged residents to become proactive monitors of the ongoing constructions. Mr. Hudu further cautioned contractors against substandard workmanship and asserted that he would not authorize the commissioning of any project that fails to meet the stipulated specifications as outlined in the bills of quantities. He has directed the District engineering team to be vigilant, ensuring that high-quality work is completed within the contract timeframe.Mr. Hudu appealed to the community to offer their support to President Museveni, emphasizing his capability to provide quality services to the citizens of Uganda. Mrs. Roseline Adongo Luhoni, the Chief Administrative Officer of Kumi, noted the common challenges faced by numerous schools, highlighting that these issues must be addressed in phases due to limited resources. She urged parents to play an active role in contributing to the success of the schools and reaffirmed her commitment to addressing the concerns of other schools as resources allow.
